The Essential Eight is a foundational set of cybersecurity strategies developed by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC). These guidelines are designed to help organizations across all industries defend against a wide range of cyber threats.

The Essential Eight cybersecurity controls include:

3. Configure Microsoft Office Macro Settings
4. User Application Hardening
5. Restrict Administrative Privileges
6. Patch Operating Systems
7. Multi-factor authentication
8. Daily Backups

While following the Essential Eight doesn’t guarantee complete protection from cyber attacks, it greatly reduces your organization’s exposure to threats, lowers the risk of a breach, and improves your chances of recovering and continuing operations if an attack occurs.
