How Manage Billing Works
The Manage tier adds $250 to your monthly subscription and includes 250 users, with per-tenant feature toggling, overage billing at $1 per user, and important considerations before disabling Manage for a tenant.
How Manage Billing Works
This article explains how billing works for the Manage tier, including how the 250-user allowance is applied across your client tenants, when additional user charges apply, and what to keep in mind before toggling Manage on or off for a tenant.
Analyze vs. Manage
Cloud Capsule has two tiers: Analyze and Manage. Analyze is included in the base subscription at $250 per month and provides assessments, reporting, and security baselines across all of your connected tenants.
Manage is an add-on at an additional $250 per month. When you subscribe to Manage, you immediately gain access to Explorer and shareable consent links across your account. To unlock the full set of Manage features for a specific client tenant, you will need to toggle Manage on for that tenant. The full Manage feature set includes:
- Automated remediation
- Policy cloning and deployment
- Historic reporting
- Drift reporting
- Exclusions
How the 250-User Allowance Works
The Manage add-on includes 250 Manage users per month. This allowance is shared across all of your client tenants that have Manage enabled. You are not charged per tenant. You are charged based on the total number of users across all tenants where Manage features are active.
Once your total active Manage users exceed 250, each additional user is billed at $1 per user per month. There are no tiered overage brackets. The $1 rate applies to every user beyond the 250 included.
Example: If you have Manage enabled on three tenants with 100, 80, and 120 users respectively, your total Manage user count is 300. The first 250 are covered by your subscription. The remaining 50 are billed at $1 each, adding $50 to your monthly invoice.
Understanding Your $500 Monthly Subscription
When you upgrade to the Manage tier, your subscription cost is $500 per month. This is a flat fee that covers your Analyze subscription ($250) and your Manage subscription ($250). This $500 charge applies every month regardless of whether you have toggled Manage on for any of your client tenants.
The additional $1 per user charge is separate from your subscription fee and is where feature-based billing applies. That overage charge only applies to users in tenants where you have actively toggled Manage features on, and only once your total active Manage users exceed the 250 included in your subscription.
Example: If you are subscribed to Manage but have not toggled it on for any tenant, your monthly bill is $500. If you then enable Manage for a tenant with 300 users, your bill becomes $550 that month ($500 subscription plus $50 for the 50 users over the 250 included).
This means you can be strategic about which tenants you enable Manage for, and can limit overage charges by only toggling on the tenants where you need automated remediation, policy deployment, drift reporting, or exclusions.
How to Enable or Disable Manage for a Tenant
Explorer and shareable consent links are available across your account as soon as you subscribe to Manage. To unlock automated remediation, policy cloning and deployment, historic reporting, drift reporting, and exclusions for a specific tenant, you will need to toggle Manage on for that tenant individually.
There are two ways to enable Manage for a tenant:
- Manually through Admin: Navigate to Admin > Billing & Subscription > Manage Customers and toggle Manage on for the tenant.
- Directly from a Manage feature: If you attempt to use a Manage feature on a tenant that does not have Manage enabled, Cloud Capsule will prompt you to enable Manage for that tenant at that point.
To disable Manage for a tenant, navigate to Admin > Billing & Subscription > Manage Customers and toggle Manage off for the tenant.
Note: Disabling Manage for a tenant is permanent and cannot be undone. Toggling Manage off will permanently delete all historical assessments, drift tracking data, deployed policies, exclusions, and client portal access for that tenant. This data cannot be recovered. Only disable Manage for a tenant if you are certain you no longer need that data.
Viewing Your Current Manage User Count
You can review which tenants have Manage enabled and how many users are counted toward your allowance by navigating to Admin > Billing & Subscription > Manage Customers. Each tenant row shows the user count that is applied to your monthly total.
